NYX Gel Liner & Smudger in Teal: Review & Swatches

Last suggestion for some St. Patrick's day flare for those of you who just want a hint of green is the NYX Gel Liner & Smudger in Teal. For those of you who missed out on the other options: you can go for green eyes or turquoise nails. The NYX gel liners have 4 color options currently (black, brown, and blue besides the teal) and retail for around $7-8 wherever NYX products are sold (I got mine at Ulta).

Probably the best thing about this is it's versatility.  It acts both as an all over lid shade/base as well as a liner.  I do realize that you can probably do that with most cream products, but it's nice to have something formulated to do both.  It's a pretty enough color to warrant both uses as well.  The formula is creamy, and easy to use.  I haven't tried the base option yet, but as a liner, it works wonderfully. It glides on opaquely with one swipe, and stays put all day long. Even though I haven't tested it as a shadow, it does smudge out without any effort or tugging on the skin to achieve a sheer wash of color.

Swatches

Teal is a green based teal/turquoise color that has a slightly pearl finished, but nothing to bling-y. It's nice and opaque, and when sheered out to the eyeshadow consistency it becomes a soft, even wash of turquoise.  Of course you can keep a thick opaque look for the entire eyelid as well, but I wanted to show you the capabilities.

Swatched as the "Smudger" and Liner

Bottom Line: I think it's a great product, and I wish I got the blue one as well.  The ability to use the product as both a liner and eyelid color allows it to be worthwhile even for individuals that don't always use bright eyeliners.  Teal is a good base for blues, and it goes really well with browns to add a hint of color.  It's worth it!
